A little Zen Doodling

What is Zen Doodling?  Deliberate drawing of elaborate patterns as a form of meditation.
Mine isn't quite as elaborate as others at this point, but this is what I've created.

I like that even the simplest of Zen Doodles can look cool.  And you get the benefit of a mini meditation - focused and relaxed.  A characteristic of some Zen Doodles is the repetitive patterns and the way the different patterns combine on one page.

When I was young we used to sing a song that was based on Matthew 7:7.  The lyrics were:
Ask and it shall be given
Seek and you shall find
Knock and the Door shall be opened
And the love comes a tumblin' down.

Have a great day!

Some artsy stuff...

Here are the backgrounds I've made this week along with a couple of first attempts at adding something onto a background (where the rubber meets the road!).  These are on canvas board.

Art and Artists - George Wazenegger

This artist makes collages from wood. The scenes are of quaint village life that reminds me of a simpler time. I appreciate his ability to take shapes of wood and make them into something different.

I couldn't find a website for him alone, but here's the link to the Carol Duvall show where I saw him.

Art and Artists - Jake Cress

I don't have talent in the visual arts. There's nothing natural for me about picking colors or having an imagination related to textures and placement. Its a struggle.
Which is why I wanted to start crafting.
I've lost my creativity and imagination over the years and I want to get it back.
I decided pushing myself in an uncomfortable direction might push me back into creativity.
So far, not so much.

But, as part of my process I've paid attention to artists I've seen on television or elsewhere. I'll post links to their sites as they come up.

First up is Jacob Cress from Virginia. he designs furniture with a sense of humor!
From the website: "The pieces are made one at a time, very carefully, by one dusty old guy who works by himself in an ancient log cabin."
I like his grandfather clock and the table with a book under it.
He's got a link on his page to a piece he completed with Mark Young that melds a painting and furniture into one piece. Fun stuff!
