"The Race Card"

This is the second time that out of the blue an opponent has accused Obama of playing the race card. First it was Hillary Clinton and now John McCain.

When Obama rebuts an argument from his opponent, the opponent says Obama has played the race card.

First - John McCain makes a commercial implying Barack Obama has the celebrity of Britany Spears or Paris Hilton (and implying he also has the substance of Britany and Paris).

In Barack Obama's response, he says the McCain camp is trying to scare the voters so they won't vote for someone who hasn't already appeared on a dollar bill.

The McCain campaign says that's Obama playing the race card.

I think that shows how out of touch the McCain camp is. I don't consider Obama to be a black man running for president against all the white people. I consider him outside the traditional power group - that includes women, non-whites, children of interracial couples, young people, poor people, rebellious teenagers, everyone who feels the government doesn't listen, people who weren't born of privilege, etc. Its the outsiders vs the insiders. Most of us are outsiders.

The McCain campaign has chosen to focus on race as a way of making Obama different and scary. I think they're playing the race card and purposefully twisting reality to their own liking. Just like George Bush and Dick Cheney.
