China and The Olympics

I completely understand that China doesn't have a great record in human rights. I agree.
But, I'm saddened that the Olympics is being used to criticize them.

I just think the Chinese culture is very sensitive to pride and shame. We would do better to allow them to be proud and put on a good show and feel good about themselves. I think they'd be more amenable to talking about human rights.

If they're pushed, either by protestors or the media picking on all their problems, I think they'd be very defensive and more aggressive. They'd be less likely to work WITH us.
