In 1968 little girls wore ankle socks. On special occasions, there would be frills on the ankle socks.
When I was in 6th grade I looked around and noticed I was the only girl still wearing ankle socks. Everyone else had 'graduated' to knee highs.
I've had sock issues ever since.
