Republicans are blaming Democrats for the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae crisis because, according to Republicans, the Community Redevelopment Act encouraged lenders and institutions to give loans to all income people so everyone has the opportunity to get a home.
I don't know about the community redevelopment act, but even if I accept it as described by the Republican, even that didn't give the institutions license to be irresponsible. They did that on their own. Once again they're going to try and avoid responsibility. Its like they don't even bother with the intention of the law. Ridiculous. And the people who bring that up as the excuse? They're arrogant - they think I don't recognize that? Most parents recognize that's a little kid trying to distract attention from the fact that they did something they knew was wrong.
The excuse sounds eerily like McCain saying the reason he's had to adopt a negative tone in the campaign is because Obama won't do town hall meetings with him.

I'm also tired of Republicans (and Democrats) saying the people don't care who started the fire, they just want to know who's going to put it out.
Bullshit. I want to know that whoever had the lousy judgement to get us into this mess is NOT the judgement that will be followed as we get out of this mess.
If deregulation is the problem, I don't want to hear Republicans, who have been proponents of a deregulated free market system for years, be the ones coming up with a solution.
I recognize, however, that most often the problems are an amalgam of policies and attitudes that collide, so its hard to distinguish the one issue that started it all.
Given that, I put greed at the top of the list of problems. And I can't see how we can legislate greed. So, next on my list is deregulation and I blame the Free Market Deregulators for this problem.
