Sarah Palin

I'm disturbed by the religious right again. I don't know how to describe my disgust. It seems they've moved beyond unadulterated support to attacking the left.

Its odd - all day Friday, Republicans who didn't know Sarah Palin, and even Republicans who might never have heard of her before that morning were praising her. On TV, in print, and online, they used the words of the McCain campaign and Sarah Palin herself to justify her choice as Vice Presidential nominee of the Republican party. Let me make that clear - they didn't know very much about Sarah Palin themselves, but the campaign and the party gave them the words to use and they were happy to talk about Sarah with a level of confidence and expertise I don't know how they could have exuded without blind acceptance. I'm thinking of Kay Bailey Hutchinson in particular. She was out early Friday morning (either by coincidence or design, I don't know) talking about how great Sarah Palin would be because she's a reformer, she's pro life, and she's go a lot of energy (because any Mom governor with 5 kids must have a lot of energy). The interviewer (was it CNN?) tried to dig deeper, but the only thing Ms. Hutchinson could offer was what she'd been told. She put her reputation on the line by trusting what she'd been told. In my opinion she put her political career on the line. I felt bad for her but she gamely repeated what she could.
