I'm going to update this log entry with the reasons I don't think John McCain will be a good President.
1. I don't like that he ran for President in 2000, was villified by the Bush 'machine', and then went back to them in 2004. That reeks of political ambition to me.
2. I don't like that he sang "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran". I don't fault him for making the connection from Bomb Iran to Barbara Ann. I blame him for thinking bombing Iran is the successful solution to a nuclear Iran. And that he's so flippant about it.
3. I don't like that he doesn't have anything to say when a woman in the audience says "What are we going to do with that bitch?". Its disrespectful. As President he should set an example of acceptable behavior. If that was acceptable to him, his bar is low.
4. He wants to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court. I don't necessarily have a problem with conservatives. I have a problem with justices like Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia who believe that if it isn't in the original constitution, then its up to the states to determine. That's not a United States...eventually it could turn into one nation with conservative states and liberal states and we might as well be two different countries. There has to be a level of decency that we believe in as Americans. The federal government is there to establish those levels - like freedom of religion and everyone is created equal. If it were up to the states we might still have segregation in some areas and some states would adopt a state religion.
