Doctor Who Season Three Last of the Time Lords

Since I can't seem to fully shake my obsession with the last episode of Doctor Who Season Four, I've been reading other posts...today, on www.televisionwithoutpity.com

When I was rewatching Last of the Time Lords this morning, a lady's hand with red fingernail polish picked up the Master's ring from the ashes. I hadn't noticed in my first viewing (because of Sci-Fi Channel editing?)

In the last couple episodes of Season Four, Donna has a large ring on her hand that doesn't play any part in the episodes. And yet, even I noticed it at the time. I've seen other posters make note of it as well, thinking it might be important to Donna saving the universe in Journey's End.

It never was.

I don't want to expect Donna Noble to be part of the series in the future as a big surprise or anything. I don't want to be disappointed. The ring could be an idea that never worked out so it won't amount to anything. Or, it really could be a way to explain Donna reappearing. It would be nice -but again, I'll try not to expect anything.
